Poem for Dale Alan Bridger

Birthday Poem .... Written Jan 29th 2013

Once upon a time...as goes the little rhyme,
A baby boy was born; we named him Dale.
Now I'm sure that you don't know, and I'm sure it doesn't show,
So indulge me as I share this little tale.

Yes he knew right from the start, how to steal his parents hearts,
And his smile it just got sweeter every day.
But if you knew him like we do, and you watched him as he grew,
You might find some humor in the things he'd say.

Yes, we called it Dales dictionary, let me tell you why,
He would have some trouble with pro-nun-ciation.
Well, one day, the story goes, as the sky began to flow,
Dale said " looks like we've got participation!"

And once a potty's what he needed, (don't get embarrassed, you will see,)
Dale asked directions to the restaurant!
Though our laughter was in fun, we just had to tell him " Son,
Going there would only get you a croissant!"

And his antics one fine day, almost turned his hair to grey
When he carried compost, dancing cross the floor.
When he twirled out on the stoop,  we didn't think that he'd recoup,
And, he came back screaming as he slammed the door.

You see he'd startled an O-possum, and I'm sure that it was awesome,
'Cause he told us that it back flipped off the deck.
Not knowing who was scared the most, and Dales face white as a ghost,
Twas the Opossum now I thought I ought to check!

He shared a room with his big brother, and it's good there was no other,
(If you've lived with him I'm sure that you'll agree.)
One was messy, one was neat, let's just say, and I repeat,
It was really something you would have to see.

He put the bunk beds in the middle of the room so they won't squabble,
"THAT IS YOUR SIDE, THIS IS MINE AND DO NOT CROSS!"
Like the odd pair on the TV, you will just have to believe me,
In that room 'twas obvious who was the boss!

All his clothes are neatly hung, spaced precisely on the rung,
Only colored coded by the type and style.
So just remember when you visit, hang your stuff first, then you can sit,
And he just might let you stick around a while...

There are many more great stories and I'm sure there's more to come,
( tell me yours and I will add them to my book)
Now my poems almost done, and we had a little fun,
Rhyming words is really all this tale took.

What we really want to say, on this very special day,
and we mean it from the bottom of our hearts,
We are just so very proud, and we'd tell it right out loud,
We could count the ways but then where would we start.

God has blest us with this son, and we all know that he's fun,
And we're glad he's ours, is all that we can say.
So let's wish him all the best, and by God we pray he's blessed,
And we hope he has a mighty fine Birthday!

We love ya Dale!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
MOM & DAD
